Nottingham trip- what I saw and what I can learn from it.
Friday 11 February 2022
The first morning in the Hotel Jury Inn. My observation goes straight to the photographs on the wall. They are photographs but manipulated, giving an abstract perspective. My photographs do not give them justice but still found interesting. Interesting how they made the space feel warm but well distributed the photographs like a very casual exhibition (I am aware that this may be a stretch.) I like how abnormal these images are. might try it with my work.
Apart from the Hotel I will be walking around and taking photographs. No meaning yet... will mostly find one once I go through the image.
Walked around for a while. Stopped by 2 galleries:
First Nottingham Contemporary where I found an interesting method to layout work or at the least understand the work and its relationship to the space (at least that is what I understood.) Each room in this place had an exhibition. from having (Room 1) wood in one room showing videos to one room having more negative space. with work or images on the wall shown below (Room 2) (shows the different rooms space.) Another room (Room 3) was to symbolize a temple was asked to remove shoes weird but made my perspective in the experience and being immersed in the work. The last room (Room 4) was more of displays that played weather sounds live I don't remember why when someone came close to it (not my favourite room but I liked how open it was allowing for natural light to come in.).
Second National justice museum free exhibition portion. Where I found an interesting method of how they displayed the work... montage with specific colour choices. as though a marketing scheme. as well as having hands-on.
